ABOUT CHRIST UNIVERSITY
CHRIST (Deemed to be University), a premier educational institution, is an academic fraternity of individuals dedicated to the motto of Excellence and Service. The University is a nurturing ground for individual holistic development to effectively contribute to society in a dynamic environment. It was established as a college in July 1969 by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), founded by Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara. It was conferred the Deemed University Status in 2008 by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) has five campuses, three in Bengaluru and one in Pune and Delhi NCR (off campuses).
ABOUT CENTER FOR BIODIVERSITY, ENVIRONMENT AND CLIMATE STUDIES
Centre for Biodiversity, Environment and Climate Studies established in the School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), Delhi-NCR Campus, Ghaziabad as a joint venture in association with Biotech Consortium India Ltd (BCIL), New Delhi and Eitimo Ventures, Bengaluru. The vision of the Centre is to evolve into a think tank of international repute promoting research and learning on biodiversity-related policy, law and governance issues and act as a facilitator of networks, partnerships and collaborations for participatory and inclusive decision-making process and learnings in the area of biodiversity governance. The objective of the Centre is to provide support to governance issues related to biodiversity, environment and climate change through effective policy engagement and capacity-building activities.
ABOUT FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (FDP)
Environmental law has become a cornerstone of legal education and research as the world grapples with increasingly complex environmental challenges. Climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation, and unsustainable development have global ramifications that transcend national boundaries, requiring cohesive legal and policy frameworks. In response, international instruments like the Paris Agreement, the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have emphasized the need for robust legal governance and enforcement mechanisms
