About the Conference
The National Conference “FROM MARGINS TO MAINSTREAM: THE LEGAL JOURNEY OF LGBTQ+ RECOGNITION” is being organized by IIMT University in collaboration with Action for Well Being (AWB India), a Delhi-based NGO founded in 2019 that offers a holistic approach to fostering inclusive education within schools and extends legal assistance to individuals from the LGBTQIA community.

The conference focuses on “LEGAL RECOGNITION OF LGBTQ+ RIGHTS AND REPRESENTATION” considering the recent developments in this field, including the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 clause 6.2, which includes transgender individuals under socio-economically disadvantaged groups (SEDGs), the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act 2019, and the landmark NALSA judgment of 2014.
